Call issues using Signia Bluetooth hearing aids.

My mum has an iPhone 12 Pro Max. She has signia stretta hearing aids that connect to the phone via Bluetooth. She is able to stream music and videos without any issue.

She is having problems with phone calls however. When she answers a call the sound goes direct to her hearing aids and she can hear them clearly but they cannot hear her even when she speaks directly into the microphone on the phone. It’s as if the microphone has been blocked, there is no sound at all. Calls work perfectly fine if she isn’t using the hearing aids so we know there is no issue with the phone speaker or microphone.

We have gone back to the audiologist who say they don’t know what the problem is and to contact Signia but they are saying go back to the audiologist.

If you find yourself encountering issues with third-party apps or a particular website or product, reaching out to the respective app developer, or manufacturer can be a helpful step in resolving the problem.

How to Contact an App Developer:

  1. In-App Support: Many apps offer an in-app support feature. Look for a "Contact Us" or "Help" section within the app's settings or menu. This may provide you with direct contact information or a form to submit your query.
  2. App Store or Website: If you can't find in-app support or need additional assistance, visit the app's page on the respective app store --> How to contact an app developer - Apple Support
  3. Email Support: Check if the developer has an official support email address listed on their website or app store page. Send them an email explaining the issue you're facing. Be detailed in describing the problem to receive relevant assistance.
  4. Social Media: Some developers maintain active social media profiles. Reach out to them through platforms like Twitter or Facebook, describing your issue or sending them a direct message.
  5. Community Forums: Many apps have dedicated user forums or communities where you can ask questions and seek help from other users or the developers themselves.

How to Contact the Manufacturer: Support for Signia hearing aids

  1. Product Manual: As mentioned, the product manual can be an excellent resource for finding contact information. Look for the "Support" or "Contact Us" section in the manual.
  2. Product Packaging: Check the product's packaging for any contact details, customer support numbers, or websites provided by the manufacturer.
  3. Manufacturer's Website: Visit the official website of the manufacturer. Most reputable companies have a support section where you can find contact information or submit support requests.
  4. Customer Support: Look for a customer support phone number or email address on the manufacturer's website. Some companies even offer live chat support for immediate assistance.
  5. Social Media: Many manufacturers maintain a presence on social media platforms. Consider sending them a message or mentioning them in a post to seek help.
  6. Retailer: If you purchased the product from a retailer, they might also be able to assist you or direct you to the manufacturer's support channels.

When contacting either the app developer or the manufacturer, be sure to provide specific details about the problem you're facing, including any error messages, screenshots, or steps to reproduce the issue. This information will help them better understand and resolve the difficulty you're experiencing.

Remember to remain polite and patient while seeking support, as it may take some time for the developers or manufacturers to respond to your inquiries.

When using Bluetooth devices, the microphone in the phone is bypassed and the audio should be captured (your mom's voice) by the Bluetooth device. So speaking into the iPhone microphone would be pointless. Has your mom spoken with the manufacturer of the hearing aids to determine they are able to support phone calls? Not ALL hearing aids do have microphones built in to support phone calls.

Also, there are accessibility settings for hearing devices. Go through this and see if anything helps --> Use hearing devices with iPhone - Apple Support

Yes as I said above we have spoken to both the provider which in this case is the NHS who just handed them over and told her to download the app.The app has no configuration settings. We’ve also spoken to signia to tell us to go back to the nhs audiologist who don’t know what the issue is either.

I’ve played about with accessibility settings even turning off the option to have phone calls directed to the hearing aids but even then if someone calls the Bluetooth is overriding the call settings and they can’t hear her. So if she wears her hearing aids she has to try take them out and turn them off in time to accept the call which doesn’t work.

Turning off the call feature in accessibility settings WON'T help with this issue. Bluetooth will ALWAYS override the built in microphone in the phone itself. The issue is with the hearing aids or the app for the hearing aids. And that's not something we users here on this user to user only forum can solve for you. It's not an Apple issue either as they are connecting via Bluetooth as evidenced by the fact your mom can hear callers.
