This happens in areas that I have never visited, random houses… ie…Family Room Hisense TV, random echo dots.
getting very frustrated. My wife has an iPhone 16e, no problems when I use her phone!

By "trying to connect" do you mean that strange devices appear in the list? That would be normal, but it will not connect unless you tap on them.
You need to sort out why it disconnects from your speaker.
It will only try to automatically connect with devices it's been previously paired with.
