Does Apple have any functionality that helps you keep your actual phone number / email private when sending / receiving texts (say when selling items) or making phone calls? I’ve seen you can mask your email but not your phone number?

Both would be considered illegal in many countries. Spoofing a text address is usually illegal, definitely immoral.

You can withhold your phone number "caller ID" provided you are not cold calling.

You cannot withhold your text number using normalnphone settings.

You cannot withhold your email address. Normally you would create a custom email domain for your business. (iCloud+)

If you sell on a law abiding platform like eBay they will withhold your details until the sale is made, but sellers must not incognito in a legal sale.

Nope. That would be against the law when it comes to texting. You can use an alternate messaging app if you like, with an account using a backup or throwaway email address.

You can block your caller ID when making calls. In the US, entering *67 before the number you're calling will do that. Of course most sane people will refuse to take your call if you do that.

I understand why you would want to do this, but you need to understand that it will immediately flag you as someone who can't be trusted.
