Here are Apple's official technical specs.

Thanks for all the replies, it was to help me choose controllers when flying my drone - I find that on occasions my DJI RC2 controller (700nits) isn’t up to the job and was considering the new bigger controllers DJI RC Pro2 (1600nits) but at £879 I needed to check out other options - I may just try an iPad instead
thanks for the help
Allegedly, it is 3000 nits. This is only in outdoor settings.
Not all iPads are 500 Nits. For example, the newest iPad Pro M5 is 1600 nits peak brightness with HDR Content. You can go to apple.com and read the tech specs for every device, including Nits.
The iPhone 17 Pro’s brightness is able to rise all the way up to 3000 nits, but to get the best result, turn on Auto Brightness

If it's peak brightness which makes the difference, you'll want to compare the 13 inch iPad Air M3, which goes up to 600 Nits or the iPad Pro M5 which goes up to 1000 Nits with normal content or 1600 nits with HDR Content.
