Photo albums not sorted alphabetically when choosing « add to album »

I manage to sort my photo albums in the app photo to look through them, but when i receive a photo by email or WhatsApp, i often want to add it to a specific album. I then right click or in the photos app, click on the square with an arrow and then on « add to album », but then the albums appear in an order that seems to be completely random. This forces me to do a lot of random scrolling to get to the right album.

how can i have my photo albums sorted alphabetically in such a way that they ALWAYS appear in alphabetical order ?

Are you asking about Photos on a Mac or on an iPhone or iPad? It depends on the device model and the system version how the albums are presented, when we use "Add to album".

On a Mac it is easier to drag the selected photos directly to the album in the sidebar instead of using "Add to Album". The albums and folders in the sidebar will stay in the order you have arranged them.
On devices without a sidebar in Photos it will help to group related albums with folders. This will shorten the list of albums, less scrolling required. You can nest the folders to shorten the list. The only problem is, that it is not supported to move existing albums into into a folder in Photos for iPhone. We have to create the albums inside the folders where we want them to appear. So we have to plan our folder structure in advance, then fill the folders with the albums. Only in Photos for Mac we can rearrange the albums in folders by dragging them to a different folder in the sidebar.
