MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) crackling sound

Ive got a macbook pro 2014 running MACos mojave. Its crackling from the top right of the keyboard. At first I thought it was the speaker but I cant turn it down and further if I plug in headphones it doesn't stop the sound emitting. Could it be the fan?

That is the only other moving object.

Does it change pitch with rpm changes?

Either way I would not hesitate to take it in—In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
