Apple charges my credit card instead of using my iTunes gift card balance.

My Apple ID account has an iTunes gift card credit however every time I buy something, instead of using the $50 iTunes gift card balance first, Apple automatically charges my credit card. How can I use the iTunes gift card balance first?

iPhone 6s, iOS 12

You can't specify how items are paid-for, it's automatic. If the account's balance is up-to-date and the card on the account is being charged contact Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww
