My son just set up my new IPhoneXR by moving things off my old IPhone - my voicemail component of my phone is not functioning. My original outgoing message plays to incoming calls, but my phone is not recording incoming messages/caller's ID.
What do I need to do to set this up?,

Contact your carrier. Voicemail is a carrier function. That sounds like they need to reset your voicemail box.
