Backups take up too much iCloud space

Why are backups utilizing a lot of my iCloud space on my iPhone 10 XR and backups run every single day.

iCloud backups is not "on" your phone, it is on an Apple computer server somewhere. You are probably seeing daily backups because you have your phone set to backup automatically. iCloud backups get overwritten, so you only have one.


You only get 5 GB free iCloud storage, so if you have a 64 GB iPhone that is nearly full, you will get error messages when it tires to backup to iCloud.
