Alarm does not go off

my alarm did not go off this morning. When looking at the screen it does show the alarm going off but it does not make a sound. Have upgraded to the latest iOS version but problem continues? Any advice?

iPhone X, iOS 12

Set the alarm's volume

Tap Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Under Ringers And Alerts, drag the slider left or right. As you drag, an alert will play, so you can hear how the volume changes. Using the Volume buttons on the side of your iPhone won't change the alarm's volume unless you turn on Change with Buttons.

Check volume level: if the ringer volume is too decent, the alarm may can't wake you up. Go to Settings > Sound & Haptics > find RINGER AND ALERTS to switch the volume to a proper level. ... Open Clock > tap Alarm > tap the + button in the right upper corner > tap Sound and choose one ringtone as the alarm sound.
