Secondary Display Issues

I have a 27in iMac from 2014 and a MacBook Pro with a TouchBar from 2018 and I'm trying to connect the two in order to have a secondary display (at this point I don't care which one becomes the secondary I just want them to connect). I've already used a ThunderBolt Cable with a USB-C adapter for the MacBook Pro but when I press the Cmnd-F2 keys it doesn't seem to work (I've already tried Cmnd-fn-F2 but it still doesn't work for either device).

Any ideas?
