Deleting photos from iPad

Just want to eliminate unwanted photos from my iPad which I used to be able to do. What am I doing wrong?

If the photos were synced to your iPad using iTunes, you have to use iTunes again to unsync them which removes them. See the section in here titled, Turn Off iTunes Syncing.
