Trying to do a clean reinstall of el capitán in a 2009 iMac, and im constantly getting a message the item is temporarily unavailable. I can t for on the apple support pages a El Capitan download, they only have updates...
Any idea how i can proceed?

Have you ever downloaded El Capitan using your Apple ID? Have you tried downloading it from the App Store Purchases tab?
