Can't drag videos into iMovie bar

I'm trying to make a video montage in iMovie and for some reason with certain videos that I try to drag and drop, it gives me a little 'x' under the cursor and won't allow me to drop the video. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to work around it?

You need to drag the video into an iMovie event or project, not the library browser. (By "bar" I assume that you mean "browser".) Try doing that and see if it works.

Another way is to import the video into the Photos app and access it from the Photos item in the side bar of an iMovie project.

A third way is to use the import feature of iMovie to import the video.
