LaCie external 500 gig HD circa 2006/2007 model 300794U. Serial 163502015

Need to replace the connection circuit board/interface card that consists of 2 fire wire connections, both 400 and 800 plus a USB 2.0 connection as well as the power connection. I’m looking for vendor(s) who offer/sell this item or possibly an alternative interface card device that would be instrumental for retrieving data that resides on this HD. The external HD is dead. One day it mounted on the desk top the next day it did not. No noise, scratching, etc. Prior to dying this hard drive was able to interface w/various desktop devices such as, towers, iMacs, minis and laptops as well as various OS platforms Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, El Capitan, Sierra, etc.

Thank you kindly for your time and advice,

Hi Otto 112,

first things first. Thank you for your responsive correspondence. My apologies for my lack thereof a quicker reply.

Your advice of an alternative dock or USB enclosure is pretty much on the same page with other research I‘ve done. Getting a replacement interface card for that specific model, well if I had to bet, it would probably lean heavily on unavailable via the manufacturer. So it‘s highly likely that the alternative interface will be the route to take just to “see if it still works”. Like yourself, I as well had written it off as d e a d.  But, I should at least find out weather or not the drive can be resurrected. Which is what I decided to do especially after realizing that it wasn't a daunting technological feat as well as running across a YouTube video that lead to the link below. This in turn lead me to do my own inquiry with the folks who represent the Apple Support communities. The info I got from the link below inspired me to give this “dead” HD some serious consideration that it may still be very much alive and well. If you have time to check out the link below, I’d love to get your input. I’ll check back in a day or two.

otto112, thank you for your time, thoughtful consideration as well as your professional expertise

By the way your recommendation of the OWC Mercury Elite Pro has my vote of approval. Accommodates most any interface and seems to be built to last.
