Erase and Reset Settings

I upgraded my iphone (XR) and i'm trying to erase and reset my old phone (6 plus). I enter my six digit passcode, then it takes me to another screen that asks for a four digit passcode that i don't have or remember. Please help. I need to erase the old phone before returning it. Thanks

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 12

  1. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
  2. If you’re asked to enter your passcode and you’ve forgotten it, see Reset the passcode. If you’re asked to enter your Apple ID password and you’ve forgotten it, see the Recover your Apple ID website.
