Apple doesn't, but privacy mode or not, the provider of your internet connection is capable of knowing where you have been browsing, and may or may not keep your history. They are unlikely to release it to anyone (possibly including you) without a court order.
How do you know if your children are watching inappropriate material, if you cant see history
You don't allow them to use their devices unsupervised.
Last question please? Does the apple company store any of your private browsing history for future reference.

Apple doesn't retain any browsing information, Private or not, aside from history synced to iCloud if you so choose.
