Connecting monitor in Thunderbolt mode causes significant mouse stutter

Setup:

Macbook Pro 15" 2018

Asus ProArt 32 PA32UC connected via Thunderbolt

Wired mouse connected directly to the Type c port on the mac with an A to C converter

When the display is connected via Thunderbolt - the mouse stutters significantly -there is a lot of jank!

When the display is connected via DisplayPort (via Type C on Mac to DP 1.2 on the monitor) there is no stutter at all.

Seems like a hardware/driver bug.

MacBook Pro 15”, macOS 10.14

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck.

yeah - that's all that was there. Are you suspecting high RAM usage? Doesn't explain that the stutter goes away when I switch to DP on the fly - RAM used doesn't change as far as I know, but I'll monitor it a bit more.
