How long should it take to pair an apple watch to a phone?

Depends which models of iPhone and watch (processor speed) and how long it takes to download the watch software (your wifi/internet speed). In my experience, on a good day you can expect minimum about 20-30 minutes. On a bad day like a slow wifi, or a new software release when everyone is hitting the download it can go the top side of 2 hours, and worst case I have been known to suggest leaving it to trickle down the internet while you sleep.
If you have started an update and you think it is taking too long, remember the instruction not to restart/power off or remove the charger until it has completed. A restart with half-loaded software can sometimes cause the device to never work again :( so just be patient even if it seems slow. If you are sure it has stalled (a) check there is still charger power because that will stall the process, and (b) Get Support direct from Apple.
