can control center be changed from swipe down to swipe up on iphone 8? i have xs for personal (swipe down) and iphone 8 for work (swipe up). the differences is driving me nuts! thanks.

No. The reason the iPhone X uses the swipe down, is because the bottom of the screen is now used for other things the iPhone 8 does not do. Like bringing up the app switcher.
There is unfortunately no way to change this.
