I'm receiving unsolicited recorded messages from caller ID "Apple Inc" saying that my Icloud account has been compromised. This is rather odd. Is this a scam? The call came from 845-215-6**0.

It is indeed a scam. The callers are criminals trying to steal your personal and financial information. Hang up on them, repeatedly if needed.
