Possible fraud

Just received a recorded call from 1-888-****-5151 claiming my icloud account was hacked and to press 1 to speak with a service rep.

Sounded fishy to me so I hung up.

Was this real from Apple or was it a scam?

Such calls are scams from criminals attempting to steal your personal and financial information.
