How can I update my (iMac 24-inch Early 2008) to the latest version so I can install office and other softwares.

What version of macOS are you running now?
The highest that machine can go is 10.11.6. It can't run anything newer than that.

That model can not be upgraded beyond OS 10.11.6.
thanks for replying. Currently the version is 10.10.5 and I require macOS version 10.12.0 or later for installing office. Thats the message I get when I try to install office.
Does this means that I will not be able to install Ms. office on this machine.
