My Apple Watch won’t charge

when I connect it to its charger it shows the charging icon but it won’t charge and it turns on and off by itself

Apple Watch doesn’t show that it’s charging. Plugged into magnetic charger with 20W charger and won’t charge Just bought an Apple Watch 8 and it it won’t show that it is charging on the screen. Shows apple logo upon setting it on the charger but fades away and I have black screen. I use the 20W charger and it still won’t charge. Not sure what to do at this point
