my contacts won't back up

Are you backing up to iCloud or syncing with iCloud? Try Settings/Your Name/iCloud and slide off syncing. Wait a few minutes and then slide syncing on. Allow time for syncing to occur.

Last resort - have you tried signing out of iCloud and then sign back in?

Hi Eric or other apple support,

I have an iphone 8. My contacts are not backing up to icloud or my computer 10.11.6 system. I have disconnected the contacts in settings from both the phone and computer and reset them both then reconnected then rebacked up the phone and still nothing.

the last resort you are suggesting signing out of iCloud and then singing back in... how will this effect my information since it is not backed up? will it keep what is on the phone? is there something I need to do first?

I appreciate the assistance as I am possibly getting a new phone soon and want to make sure it is all backed up before I do so.
