I’ve had a student subscription for a while now. However, for this month I was charged as an individual.

Possibly you missed or failed a periodical student verification.

See how your Apple Music subscription is administrated (Individual, Student, or Family) in the subscriptions overview.

If you are still administrated with a Student subscription, then the charge will be for something else.
