I did what I was told to do, but Dictation is not working. The microphone icon shows up, the USB microphone is on, the correct sound input is being used, but when I speak, nothing happens. Nada!
I have an 21" iMac computer with OS Sierra.

When you are using the microphone, does any input show in the Sound preference/System Preferences? The input level will fill out as sound is received, the higher the volume the farther across the meter shows.
By saying that the USB microphone was on, I meant that I had already checked to make sure it was working properly. I have many Macs, but the one I am having the problem with decided, out of the blue seemingly, not to let the Dragon Dictate function any longer. Nor the Apple dictation. Both work fine on my other Macs. I am thinking that whatever is the problem is why Dragon Dictate quit working.
Have you tried to uninstall Dragon Dictate and then see if Apple Dictation will work properly. You seem to have started to isolate the problem.
