I installed parental controls on my son's phone. In settings, he cannot select the button that would allow him to sing in with his Apple ID. I want to do something on his phone by signing in with his apple ID. What do I do so that I can sign in with his apple iD?

Parental Controls can restrict that. I suggest you turn all Parental Controls off in Settings/Screen Time and then do what you want to do. When you are done, turn Parental Controls back on.
