Hello,

Checkout this 3rd party website on how to use Disk Management in Windows to check your drive's format. Does Windows recognize your hard disk? Most likely your drive is formatted in a way that is not compatible with iPad and you will need to format the hard disk using Disk Utility on a Macintosh.

iPadOS 13 supports the following disk formats:

  • macOS Extended journaled — YES read and write
  • FAT32 — YES read and writeXFAT — YES read and write
  • NTFS — NO
  • APFS — YES
