Catalina and External Samsung SSD

I updated my 2017 iMac to Catalina. My external Samsung T5 Portable SSD no longer works. Samsung says it's aware of the problem and has no date set for a fix. Does anyone know of a workaround or other solution short of reverting to the previous OS? Thanks!

(P.S. I have access to the SSD via a MacBook Air that has not been updated, so I'm not completely up the creek. )

If you used the Samsung Portable SSD software to set an encryption password, disable the password on your MacBook Air. Then see if you can now access the T5 on the iMac running Catalina.
