I have a late 21.5" iMac running Catalina 10.15.1. The airplay icon is missing from the upper menu bar. System preferences for display only allows "off" in the dropdown menu. I do have the show airplay checked. What now?

It appears that you aren't seeing the AirPlay icon on the menu bar on the desktop of your iMac since updating to macOS 10.15.1, and I'm glad to help.
