as the title says, I can’t get 2 AirPods sharing audio. I can get both AirPods connected to the iPhone, but I can only switch between the AirPods. With one of the two Airpods, there is a Share Audio button showing up, not with the other. When button Sharing Audio is pressed, the iPhone is searching for headphones but both AirPods are in like 10cm distance...

i found the solution; Even when you recently bought AirPods, you need to update its FIRMWARE! Then it will work perfectly.
Apple doesn't currently provide a way to manually update the firmware on AirPods or AirPods Pro, opting instead for an automatic update process.
But Apple won't just install the firmware update willy-nilly (if your AirPods died mid-update it could cause all sorts of problems); you'll need to make sure of the following:
Once all of those conditions are met, the firmware update should automatically begin at some point.
Now, while you can't trigger a firmware update with a button press or tap, you can check what firmware version your AirPods are running and view some other interesting information about the wireless earbuds. Here's how:

I have the same issue, I acquired my AirPods 2 wireless charge on September and now that I want to connect them with an iPhone 11 pro max and AirPods pro, I can't, they only switch the sound in the devices. I tried to do the same with an iPad Air 2 but it doesn't work and I'm worried if my AirPods have any company error.
