  1. Pages File menu : Export To > Word (defaults to .docx), and then save with a .docx extension if not already offered.
  2. Pages Share menu : Send a Copy > Mail. This will automatically open a new Apple Mail compose window with the Word document already attached.


Only Apple Pages applications (and then there are limitations) can open Pages documents, so you must translate the Pages document content during the export or sharing process into Word document format.


Just understand that Pages is not a Word clone and translation may produce a Word document that looks nothing like what it may have appeared as in Pages.


A long standing recommendation in the Pages Support Community is that if you are regularly exchanging Word documents with others using Word, then you want process those Word documents in their native document format, avoid translation surprises, and use Office 365, or Office 2019 for Mac yourself.
