IPhone won't charge

I bought a new iPhone a few weeks ago and it won't consistently charge. Tells me the device may not be supported. WTF? I'm plugging it in with a new chord to the electrical outlet. Help.

I would clean lint and dirt out of the iphones connector if that did not help then I would return it under warranty
