appletv is a box one can connect to any tv to

appletv app is an app some tvs and all ios and mac devices that support it can use

appletv+ is apples new streaming service which can be accessed from appletv app and from browsers on computers

if your sony tv does not support the apple tv app then you need an apple tv box
