AirPrint

My iMac (MACOS Catalina 10.15.2) is successfully connected to my HP deskjet 2540 by USB. The IMAC keeps suggesting I change to AirPrint. Is there any reason to do so? .

The printer sits beside the iMac and has no other users. Once in a blue moon I may connect to an aged Windows XP (USB) to print something but I do not remember doing that in the past 2 years. I am not aware of any wireless connection to the printer.

AirPrint would allow you to print from other devices, like an iPad or iPhone, for example. If the printer does not have wireless capability, the iMac can share the printer via its own built-in WiFi. But, if you have no need to print from other devices, then you have no reason to activate it.
