Recovering a file through iCloud Drive

Hi! I have 2 questions related to iCloud Drive/document recovery

  1. Yesterday I had a word file, saved in documents, that I accidentally overwrote. I want to recover the original file. Assuming this file was originally saved on iCloud drive, is there a recovery potential here?
  2. Not all of my documents that are saved in the "documents" folder are syncing/showing up in Drive (very few are in fact!) and yet there is no error/no space remaining symbol next to the "documents" icon in finder. It doesn't appear to me that space is an issue. Is there another reason that all my documents might not be syncing?

Thanks for any tips.
