Deleted emails re-appear

Why do emails I have deleted or filed re-appear in my inbox? How can I permanently delete them? I have three email accounts: 2 Gmail and 1Yahoo. It appears to happen primarily with the Gmail accounts.

Mail>Preferences>Accounts>gMail>Mailbox Behaviors, what path is Trash Mailbox set to?

Are you using any Mail Rules?
