Hi Folks: On my MacBook Air is it possible to change the fixed colour of appointments (Blue) that I enter in my calendar?

Yes. Expose Calendar's sidebar. You will see the list of all calendars. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the calendar that's blue and select the desired color from the context menu.
