Siri Found New Contact Info - WRONG!

Twice in the past week, Siri has "found new contact info" for my contacts by monitoring my text messages. In both cases, the contact information was completely wrong. One person was sending a phone number in a group message and the phone number was identified as being his (wrong). My wife sent me an address and Siri decided this was her new home address.

In both cases, Siri immediately made the changes with a message asking me to undo it. How do I turn this off? I found old posts explaining how to do it but they don't seem to apply to the current iOS release.

Please help before Siri destroys all my contacts!

Thanks. I wasn't sure if I should turn off the suggestions in Contacts or Messages.

I think the feature is pretty good but it just needs work. It shouldn't use the recommended information in the contact unless I accept it. I know that it doesn't save the info into the contact until confirmed but the phone does use it.

THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED: Contact A (iPhone user) sent a group message that included contact B's phone number in the message. When I tried to send a separate text message to contact B (an Android user) it kept getting sent to contact A. After some digging, I realized contact A had the phone number for contact B associated with it due to the Siri suggestion. It was still pending confirmation from Siri yet it still managed to reroute my text message to the wrong contact.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, ZapBrannigan13!

I understand you want to turn off the suggestions for new numbers and addresses within Messages. I'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

The following page explains more about this feature: About Siri Suggestions on iPhone

You will want to go to Settings > Siri & Search > Contacts and turn off the appropriate options.

Have a great day!
