iPhone broken screen backup

Hi all.

my sons phone dropped and you cannot access the screen and we cannot do a backup as we cannot “trust” the computer. Is there a way around this to backup and restore onto another phone

iPhone 6s, iOS 12

No. And Apple's stance is that if the data isn't backed up, they don't specifically have any obligation to repair a device such that its data can be recovered. They state that data may be lost during the repair process. They might wipe a device to test it or possibly even exchange the damaged device for a service replacement in factory condition.

I personally believe that's Apple's repair is probably the best, but when the data is more important then it's worth considering third party repair or at least data recovery services.

It is often possible for Apple to replace the display without erasing and restoring the device. But their terms of service offer no guarantees the data will not be erased, if they feel necessary to do that as part of the overall service.

So that’s the risk of going forward with a display replacement. You may still have the data afterwards, or you may not.
