Documents/Desktop folders in iCloud Drive

I have an iCloud account and activated the iCloudDrive's desktop and documents feature.

It created 2 new folders in iCloud drive with the contents of my desktop and documents.

So far everything is ok, but why can't I keep my desktop as is ?

Now I have a single folder on my desktop called Desktop - MacBook...

This is kind of against the whole point of having a desktop.

Is there a way to fix this without having to turn off iCouldDrive on my other computer, my iMac ?

I do not want them to actually share the desktop and documents, only the cloud.

I am running Catalina on MBP and Mohave on iMac

Thanks

If necessary, towards the end of the article are instructions for getting the files back on your computer.

If you do not want to share the Desktop and Documents folders of all your devices in iCloud, disable "Desktop & Documents". You can still share files between your devices by saving them on iCloud Drive. Any file or folder you move to iCloud Drive will appear on all your devices, that are syncing with iCloud Drive.

Before you disable the Desktop&Documents option for iCloud Drive, I would move the " Desktop - MacBook" folder from your Desktop to your Home folder to save it locally. Move the folders from the iCloud Documents folder to a local folder in your Home folder. Then disable "Desktop & Documents" again, but keep iCloud Drive enabled.
