Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

Safe Mode - About.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin.

I had my work IT colleague look at the issue and the downloads worked correctly in the safari technology preview. I am assuming it is a Safari issue since I upgraded Catalina. My IT colleague is working on the issue. Thanks again for your help and suggestions. My 365 emails download attachments with no issues using Safari.,

I have exactly the same problem. Not a lot of help from Sky as I access Yahoo through that service.

I have discovered that the attachment can be dragged to the desktop, clip on it and it will open. Personnaly not really interested in using another browser but it would be a nice idea if Apple and Yahoo talked to each other. Don't know about you but I am running Avast.

Regards

I am also running Avast but that is not the problem. My IT colleague at work believes it is something to do with yahoo and Safari. When using Yahoo with Chrome the issue does not occur. When IT colleague uses his yahoo account on Safari, he has the same issue. Hoping issues is resolved quickly. Starting to be a pain when you have a lot of attachments to open.

Problem with Catalina 10.15.4 for Mac OS update: AOL mail with Safari no longer works properly. The recipient of an email has trouble downloading an attachment. Instead of downloading it, the email window closes. Likewise, the recipient sees a question mark inside the insert box instead of an inserted picture. Sometimes while composing and using insert, you already get the box with the question mark in it.

I am reasonably sure the problem was caused by Safari with update 10.15.4 because AOL mail still works perfectly with Firefox and 10.15.4. How does one get Apple's attention that these updates are messing some things up? I've seen other complaints with the updates.

Since I downloaded the Catalina 10.15.4 I cannot open attachments on my yahoo email using safari
