iMac display screen

iMac late 2012 27" screen. Opened iMac from sleep and screen shows vertical colored lines. Restarted now different color background and different color lines. Similar different results on subsequent restarts. Computer is work income. What has happened and what do I do?

I had done the nvram reset on restart the first time. Background and line colors changed but nothing else on screen. No way to do screenshot or anything else. Background is dark reddish and vertical lines are red or black. One of the red vertical lines follows mouse tracking from left to right.


I have tried on my iPad to attach a photo of screen taken with phone but have selected image in photo library several times on iPad which I am using for this community post and it will not attach.
