I have had my MacBook Air since 2014 and now it started making cracking and static noises really loud from the speakers

Is this only from music being played on iTunes? Attach an external optical drive and play a standard music CD, or try playing audio over Youtube such as a Classical music concert. If that is OK, then the music file format itself is too compressed or got corrupted that is situated in iTunes.


If you had any spills or any recent internal component work, the speakers or their cables may not be properly connected or damaged from the spill.
