change device name

I'm having trouble changing the name on my MacBook (device)

Go to system preferences>sharing

then under the name near the top left you’ll see the current name usually <name>’s MacBook (Pro/Air).

See if you can change that to your own custom name, and you’ve changed your macbook name.
