cant find the start up disk

13 inch MacBookPro.

Trying to repair from 'grey screen' at start up.

Drive is visible in Disk Repair ... ran and all ok.

Restarts and emergency starts all failing because cant find start up disk.

Restarting from Apple 'On-Line Start up... connected ... ready to go ... but cant find start up disk to chose from.

OPTION #1:

You need a genuine Installer Flash Drive that contains a compatible

OS for your Macbook.

Follow the procedure below to prepare the Installer....

How to create a bootable installer for macOS


Insert the Drive and power on while holding the OPTION Key.

You should see the the OS Installer volume icon.

Click on it and follow the installation instructions.

How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery


Connect a reliable Internet feed to your Laptop,

Or... Make available, a strong Wireless Internet feed.


Power ON while holding the COMMAND + R Keys.

A Globe Icon will appear. Then a Wireless Connect option.

SELECT your Wireless Internet access and enter the PASSWORD.

Your Laptop will then take about to 15 minutes to download

the Recovery Utility.

SELECT install OSX.

Follow install instructions.

Thanks for replying.

I'm just attempting to start the computer. I'm getting the circle with a line through it, then the question mark etc. Following all instructions to repair and re-install but theres never a start up disk to install to

Basically, it looks like the machine can find the start up disk image ... or cant connect to the start up disk. Seems no way out of this, going around in circles.

May need to go to a shop.
