DVD player doesn't recognize the external DVD drive.

I have a 2013 iMac running Catalina.

The external DVD drive is an Amicool 3.0 Type-C CD DVD =/-RW Optical Drive.

After loading a DVD into the drive, Finder recognizes all the folders and files on it and Disk Utility recognizes it. But the DVD Player doesn't recognize it at all.

Any ideas as to what the problem is and/or how to fix it?
