External Display iMac and MacBook Pro

How can i connect an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019) to a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019) so that one or the other is an external monitor to extend the screen?

You cannot, that feature does not work on a 2019 iMac. It worked on 2009 & 2010 27" iMacs and then again in 2011 - 2014 iMacs, when Retina displays were introduced in 2015 that feature was discontinued. Sorry no work arounds, if the MBP needs and external display then you need to buy one.
