my mac keeps crashing

If I leave my iMac 27 inch mid 2011

processor 3.4 ghz intel core 17

memory 32 GB 1333mhz DDR3 running for a few hours it crashes and restarts by it self.

It never done this before, and I run diagnostics but it keeps failing If i leave it on to long unattended.


Below you can find what the mac tells me self and what Etrecheck thinks is wrong

Anyone have an idea?

This is a classic 3rd party kernel extension generated panic, where the 3rd party kernel extension is not using proper memory free list hygiene.


The worse offenders are 3rd party anti-virus packages. They are not alone in generating this kind of panic, but they are the most frequent ones we find in the forums.


See if you have a panic report (file's ending in .panic).  If you have more than 1, please post a couple as the differences can be very useful:

Look for the Kernel Panic reports at:

Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder -> /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports

Norton is what I was going to guess, as it is the most common Anti-Virus product that generates this kind style of kernel panic. But I did not want to be overconfident.


As far as A/V products go, Norton is the one I see generating the most panics. It is not alone, but no other seems to be as panic prolific.


FYI: I was hoping you would open the respective .panic files, then copy and paste their output, not just list the file names 😀 As you have confirmed Norton is present, I feel comfortable saying Norton is the root of your panic problem.

But you have 3 other kernel extension families on your Mac


com.LaCie.ScsiType00	2.2.0

Not sure what you need with a LaCie driver, unless you have some kind of SCSI adapter on your Mac or you are trying to use iSCSI network attached storage.


com.paceap.kext.pacesupport.snowleopard	5.9.1

Generally associated with DRM'ed software, and this is the code that unlocks it for your use.


com.paragon-software.filesystems.ntfs	23.0.15

Do you really mount Window's file systems on your Mac? If you do, then make sure it is an up-to-date driver.
